HSE University and EEC Launch Third EAEU Research Exchange
The exchange will take place from September 18 to October 18, 2023, with the participation of ten experts from EAEU member states. The purpose of the exchange is to strengthen soft skills, as well as to enable experts and professionals to acquire systemic knowledge of the development features of the economic, institutional and strategic aspects of Eurasian integration.
The third EAEU Research Exchange is organised by the HSE University Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs in partnership with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The participants of the exchange are experts from EAEU member states. Among them are candidates of political and economic sciences, doctoral students, and research fellows from educational and scientific research institutions. More details on the members of the exchange can be found here.
Throughout the month, the participants will be involved in masterclasses, lectures, expert and roundtable discussions. The HSE University Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS) is actively involved in organising in-person courses, lectures and seminars. At the end of the exchange, the participants will present three analytical projects on site at HSE University.
The opening ceremony of the programme took place on September 19, 2023. Anastasia Likhacheva, Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, emphasised the importance of an in-person event for experts after a long remote period.
‘I am glad that the programme will last for a month. You will have time to communicate with experts and work on joint projects. It is great to make new acquaintances and develop new ideas. I hope we will set the stage for this month to be beneficial for you. We will be glad if you could implement some of your initiatives during the month. Let's get inspired and let’s inspire Eurasian integration,’ she said. With the emergence of many joint ventures, educational and research projects, Anastasia Likhacheva believes that attitudes towards Eurasian integration have improved for the better. While this has never been easy, a new kind of local integration has appeared over the last year and a half, and a demand for member states to facilitate mutual regulatory activities has become apparent.
Ilya Kuzmichev
Deputy Chairman of the EEC Youth Council
Ilya Kuzmichev, Deputy Chairman of the EEC Youth Council, noted that traditions of scientific and educational contacts have formed in recent years. He hopes that the current exchange will be an opportunity for serious brainstorming on the key issues of integration. ‘We find such formats very important,’ claimed Ilya Kuzmichev. He also appreciated the support of HSE University in organising such exchanges. The EEC representative noted that the development of integration is a dynamic and creative process, and the main result is friendly ties. ‘You also deserve credit for sustainable integration,’ stated Ilya Kuzmichev.
The opening ceremony was followed by an expert roundtable discussion on ‘Strategic Directions of EAEU Development until 2025’. The topics discussed by the participants included the medium- and long-term strategic priorities of EAEU development, the EAEU in the context of the Greater Eurasian Partnership, the EAEU trade agenda in the context of trade partners, the EAEU as a platform for competition in regional integration projects, the formation of personal standards for perceiving oneself as subject rather than an object, and the humanitarian aspect of the development of Eurasian economic integration.
