Konstantin Sonin Takes up Professorship at Chicago University
HSE Professor Konstantin Sonin has accepted an invitation from Chicago University to serve as a Professor in its Harris Graduate School of Public Policy Studies. Chicago University is one of the world’s top 10 academic institutions, and the Harris School is one of the United States’ top 5 analytical centers on public policy.
Harris is currently home to leading academics in the field of economic sciences, including two Nobel Prize laureates — Roger Myerson and James Heckman – and well-known political economists such as Ethan Bueno de Mesquita, Scott Ashworth, and Daniel Diermeier.
This is one of the world’s most prestigious institutions for economists specializing in the intersection between economic and political sciences, focused on political economics.
Although this new position will take up a significant amount of time, especially in the early days, Konstantin Sonin plans to continue working with HSE. HE will remain chair of the Academic Council on the joint HSE/New Economic School (NES) BA programme, of which he was a co founder. He will continue to give lectures and lead research by undergraduate and postgraduate students, and will also continue to coordinate international recruitment for NES.
‘Perhaps this new work will help open up opportunities for collaboration between Chicago University and HSE, and I will certainly be able to draw my new colleagues’ attention to the work being done at HSE,’ Konstantin Sonin said.
