Konstantin Sonin Appointed HSE Vice Rector
Konstantin Sonin, Director of Microeconomic Research and Professor of the Higher School of Economics (the HSE) Subdepartment of Institutional Economics, was appointed Vice Rector of the HSE on August 1, 2013.
Konstantin Sonin is the world's most cited economist based in Russia. He defended his
Ph. D. (Candidate of Science) thesis at the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1998. Since 2001, he has worked at the New Economic School (NES) and was its Vice Rector before August 2013.
Sonin has collaborated with the HSE since 1998. He became a professor in 2010 and has contributed to the creation of a joint HSE/NES Bachelor of Arts Programme. Since 2013, he has served as the HSE’s Director of Microeconomic Research.
As Vice Rector, Sonin will be responsible for the international recruitment of teachers and researchers for the HSE and will support the academic careers of internationally selected faculty members. He will serve as a co-chair of the HSE Academic Fund and a co-director of the HSE/NES Bachelor of Arts Programme.
