Masterclass on Historical Research at the HSE Perm
Immo Rebitschek, postgraduate student of the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, gave a lecture on the system of education in Europe and delivered a masterclass on historical research at the HSE Perm. He explained that Russian and German education systems differ greatly, even in the very smallest details, for example, in Germany the lower the mark you get for your work, the more successful you have been. Other examples included the fact that there are almost no dormitories in Germany; students prefer to rent apartments or flats.
Having answered numerous questions about the European education system, Immo moved on to deliver his masterclass on historical research. He told the students how to use information in order to make it work for you. He shared his experience of working with archives, a very important topic for many of those attending, since they need to use archives for their term papers, while others may be trying to research their family trees.
After the lecture Immo shared his impressions about the experience. He said that he didn’t expect to meet so many people interested in the subject, and not only historians, but also political analysts, managers and economists, all of whom have an interest in history.
