of participants in the HSE course ‘Institutional Economics’ on Coursera successfully passed the final exam. This is twice the average for all courses offered globally on Coursera.

Sport Management Can Change Image of Entire Country

On December 9, the opening of the joint FIFA/CIES sport management programme took place. Participants of the event had the chance to discuss issues with organizing world sport forums with the CEO of the Organising Committee for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Ricardo Trade.

HSE on Coursera: This is only the start

The 11 educational courses completed in the first year of HSE's cooperation with Coursera won an audienec of 300,000. The courses' lecturers talked about how they succeeded in doing this at a round table at HSE.

Universities in Russia and other BRICS countries will cooperate more actively with each other

On December 3, HSE marked ‘Russian Universities’ Day’ – an event held during the BRICS University summit organized by Times Higher Education and the 5/100 Project for Raising the Competitiveness of Russia’s Leading Universities among the top global higher education institutions.

Higher School of Economics Expands Cooperation with University of Turin

On December 3, 2014 an Italian delegation led by the Rector of the University of Turin, Gianmaria Ajani, visited HSE. First Counsellor of the Embassy of Italy in the Russian Federation, Agostino Pinna and Pietro Fre, Deputy Head of Theoretical Physics Department and Attaché for Science of the Embassy of Italy in the Russian Federation were also present. The heads of the two universities signed two new cooperation agreements to extend the already existing links between them.

Joint MA Programmes: A View from Italy

A press conference on further development of the double degree programme took place at the University of Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy. University Rector Alessandro Rugieri said that, in Italy people understand how important cooperation with Russia is – in particular cooperation with HSE in Nizhny Novgorod – which is home to over a million residents and plays a key role in the country’s economic life.

Co-author of Polish Economic Reforms to Speak about Transition Economies on Coursera

On November 24, an English-language course will begin on Coursera called ‘The Economics of Transition and Emerging Markets,’ taught by Marek Dabrowski, a well-known Polish economist and professor in HSE’s Department of Applied Economics.

New Agreement with Rossotrudnichestvo to Strengthen HSE's Presence in Europe

On November 7, the Higher School of Economics and Rossotrudnichestvo signed a new agreement on cooperation. The document provides a framework for the future development of partnerships between Russia, the CIS, the Baltics, and Central and Eastern Europe in the educational and academic spheres.

Faculties Still Expanding at HSE

As part of organizational reform at HSE, two more ‘big’ faculties are being created – the Faculty of Economic Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities. These faculties will include educational and research divisions in their corresponding fields. Changes will also take place in the structure of HSE’s Moscow State Institute of Electronics and Mathematics.
